Our flights were all on time, and our PaP flight was actually a bit early. Our first view of the Haitian terrain...
We made it thru customs no problemo, and were zipping away. We met up with Stephanie (what WOULD I have done without her, I don't know!) She offered to take us out into the frenzy of suitcase "grabbers" since she had experience.
Out we go, and to our chagrin, our driver was NOT there. We paid guys to go and inquire in Creole, Steve searched, Stephanie's director, Barbara Walker searched....no driver for us! Barbara insisted we leave the airport before dark, so she gave us a ride to the Visa Lodge, while Steve made connections with our agency back home and tried to sort it out. For a while, it didn't appear as though I would see my Joshua Tuesday night.

Our agency connected us with another director they use in PaP and we went to her guest house. From there, we finally connected with our driver, who had our Joshua and had gone to the airport too late and missed us. Gertrude, owner of the house we were now at, spoke Creole to our driver and gave him directions over the phone and in spite of many a wrong turn, he finally arrived, with our sleeping, sweaty boy in tow. And after all of the frantic tears of the night, in a strange land, everything else disappeared. We had our boy.
After a long, dark drive through PaP, 2 sippy cups, some cracker crumblies, and trusting eyes looking up at me, we finally arrived at our destination.
After a late dinner and a cozy bath, we settled in and loved on our boy.

Amanda, you don't know me, I am a missionary in Honduras (I have found your blog thru Tara and I have been gripped by your story). I have been keeping up with you and praying for you. I just wanted to let you know that it warms my heart beyond measure to see you with your little boy...and you can actually hold him and love on him. God is so good and so faithful. Just wanted to let you know that a sister in Christ who lives in latin america has been anxiously awaiting this post!

I've been eagerly anticipating this post, too!!!!!
So wonderful.
Congratulations.
May the Lord bless you all. For real! :)
My goodness...I don't believe I've ever seen you so hot and sweaty...lol!
He is adorable all wet from his bath, and I love his little hand on your heart while taking his bottle.
Paw just now had me go back to FB as he wanted to see the video again...as for myself, I watch it over and over again...sigh...praying his speedy homecoming!
Yes! My heart leaped when I saw you had a new post! I can't believe none of your flights were delayed. That pretty much NEVER happens. Praise God for small mercies. It is so wonderful to see your son in your arms. He looks very content! Can't wait to hear more...
Precious!!
p.s. Our driver came hours late to the airport once when my mom and I visited my kids. We had to take a random taxi to the hotel (it was chaos and a bit scary). We found my kids and had a reunion later but it was a hard adventure. I'm so glad you were in the good hands of Barbara Walker!
LOVED seeing these pics and hearing of your adventure. My heart is filled with joy and my eyes with happy tears. Praying that baby home soon!
Wow! I am so happy for you all Amanda, that God has blessed you and Steve with the gift of adopting a precious young boy! You all are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love and Prayers,
Irene
Precious photos, Amanda! Sounds like you had a wonderful time bonding with your little guy. He looks so sweet.
So so happy for you and that you were able to be with your Joshua that first night and the following days. GOD is good.
