The Plan:

We are dropping the kids off tonight at my grandparents for a fun-filled week with them and their cousin, Abbie.

Then, off to Nashville for the night, waking up Tuesday before the roosters to catch our plane for Miami.
We have quite a decent layover in Miami and then we catch a plane bound for Port au Prince, Haiti.

We should land in Haiti, barring any delays, around 3:45, Tuesday afternoon.

We will travel about 45 minutes in an SUV with a driver through these streets:

We'll pull up to these gates:

And we'll finally meet this little boy and kiss this face:

This is where we'll be staying for the entire trip, with our Joshua:

Wednesday we have an Embassy appointment to file our I600. Our appointment is for 11 am, but we'll probably wait for a long time.

After that, it's just ooey gooey Joshua bonding goodness from then until Friday.

On Friday, we'll spend the first half of the morning with our boy. Then, we'll take him back to the orphanage, meet his caregiver, and learn of his routine... and say our goodbyes. We'll also visit with the other children and take as many pictures as we can.

Then, we'll hop a plane all the way back home again. Hopefully, we'll pull a Cinderella and land in Nashville before the clock strikes midnight.

PLEASE PRAY:

For safe travels (in the air, on the ground)
For good health (for our whole family)
For significant bonding and attachment
For God to comfort our family while we are apart
For God to be glorified in all we do and say
For God to go before us and our paper work and mightily speed things along

And finally....my special request. Please, please lift us up in prayer on FRIDAY. Friday will be quite possibly one of the most difficult days of my life. But, GOD. God will give grace. Please pray to that end.

Bon Voyage!

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6
P.S. I will update on Facebook if at all possible.
Thanks, Mendy, for the Haiti photos

Praying with you and for you! This will be one of the most life-changing, challenging, incredible, amazing experiences you have gone through...I guarantee all the anxiety and even the painful goodbye is WORTH it though when you hold that tiny little person in your arms! I have been twice now....and my heart breaks every day as I miss her and wait for IBESR exit, birthparent interview etc. to fall into place...but I wouldn't have traded a second of that time with her. I know I am behind with advice, but....here goes anyway: make sure to take LOTS of photos/video, pray lots, and savor every moment with your little boy. Keep in mind that in the beginning, it is normal and okay for him to cry some and be nervous...bring plastic bags/many diapers/wipes, and separate money into small increments in case you are encountered by overanxious men wanting to carry your bags at the airport. (I didn't feel unsafe, only overwhelmed) Many blessings and prayers for you and your family...can't wait to see photos and hear stories when you return!

Those streets pictured are really some of the better ones.

Enjoy every moment of your time.

We didn't wait long to sign our I 600. My only problem was when she asked me how many kids we have. Most people would know the answer to that but I didn't know if she meant birth, adopted, both, including the ones we are adopting, adult ones too etc etc?
The building has a/c, a "drinking fountain", real toilets and a pretty nice waiting room.

Praying with you for these needs, and for Joshua's sweet heart to open up to his mommy and daddy who have waited for him for so long!
Cannot wait to see pictures of you three together!
