We awoke verrrrry early in order to get ready because we thought we were going to be picked up at 6 am (so we were told) even though we didn't need to be at the embassy until 11 am. I didn't wake Joshua until 10 'til 6 he was sleeping so well, and of course, we aren't picked up until 7:30. :~) This is Haiti.
The morning view from our balcony

We would start the day out with a "sippy bottle" of pediasure (he loved each flavor) and snuggles....then we would dress up. He's oh-so-styling with his momma and daddy...

We drove to the NLL office and made contact with the office workers there, asked about our file, and prepared for our appointment. We fit in all the play time that we could.

Then, back to the guest house. He slept through the majority of our travels....THAT is amazing. We held him throughout the traveling and we were bouncing along like nobody's business....my mind kept going back to the Eddie Bauer carseat we purchased and have tucked away in a closet...and I would chuckle. God gave MUCH grace.

As for what we discovered:
We ENTERED MOI on September 11, 2009
What is MOI? (Minister of Interior)
MOI is when our dossier is sent through the last Haitian step in applying for a Haitian passport.
MOI takes appx. 3-5 months.
Now, while MOI is going on, we've filed our I-600 in Haiti. This begins DHS (department of homeland security) approval to adopt Joshua within the USA.
Our birth parent interview for DHS is scheduled for October 19th. The birth parent interview ensures that no one kidnapped Joshua and that the birth mother relinquished him. At this time, they may require DNA testing to verify that this is indeed her biological son.
Our prayer request?
That they will be able to find the birth mother for the interview and it will take place on time with no need to be rescheduled.
That they will NOT require DNA. (it's not that we're worried about any legitimacy, but it takes 6 weeks to get DNA test results....we'd prefer NOT to wait any longer than we have to, not to mention it's $500!)
How can this face not melt your heart and send you to your prayer closet? Thank-you one and all for your prayers...may we intensify them this week with these specifics.

You are in MOI and didn't know it yet???? Wow. I'll be dancing for joy if we ever get to that point. With almost 17 mo out of ibesr and the last six stuck in 2nd legal I am beginning to wonder. Maybe you will fly right through and have him home for Christmas!!!!
Guess who is now the star on my desktop...LOL...loved that last picture! He is such a lovey!
Hey Amanda....how'd A and D do while you were gone? I know you were a bit worried about A in particular. Did she make out ok? :)
Tara, the kids had a BLAST while we were gone. Actually, right as we left, Daniel was the one that broke down and so I fret. But we had communication with them, and they pretty much informed us each time that they were having a blast! KY Museum, Nashville Zoo, Apple Orchard with a HAY MAZE....yeah, they came out alright. Thanks for asking!
Beautiful pictures of you all together. Love it! Praying you fly through MOI.
Love the MOI news! Praying you'll get through that office as quickly as we did. (about 9 weeks) And yes- that is a heart-melting face!
