My parents live in a quaint little Ohio town. It's full-fledge Americana. The town has a history and it's still small. The houses are aged and similar and I just LOVE driving down the street admiring their beauty. The pace is slow, the main street is aged, but everything is well maintained. A perfect set up to celebrate the 4th!
The parade brought everyone out in their flag t-shirts, waving Old Glory...and children with their bags waiting for the candy!

Over all, it was a simple parade and the kids did get candy (though most of the floats ran out of candy long before they passed the first block!) and somewhat entertaining to see tomorrow's future Americans unable to actually march the parade (and believe me, it wasn't a LONG route). According to their truck, they do march. We've just never seen them march. Really, some of them looked absolutely exhausted, sitting there.

But, hey, we were entertained :~)

Later on, we ate well, once again, with fried chicken, noodle salad, baked beans, and squash casserole. That evening we broke out the most adorable paper lanterns (mom and I both think there should be paper lanterns for every occasion after using these!) and sat out and watched the fireworks from the front yard.
I must say, the fireworks display in Whateversville sure did top the parade! It was loud, pretty, and quite the show for such a little town! Lots of fun, and a great way to spend our 4th!
Avery actually stayed outside for the whole show this year! Quite an accomplishment!

Thanks, Nan & Paw, for making it wonderful, as always! No matter where you live, a visit to your house is always fabulous!
