Maybe some of you that have been on this adventure of Caribbean adoption have seen this type of hurricane season before. Of course, your eyes are more peeled to keep watch over your young, even from a distance. Of course, that desire clashes with the absolute inability to do anything. But pray. I'm amazed at the hurricane development. Gustav hammered the Haitian penninsula, Hannah stalled out over Haiti, and now....Ike & Josephine are set in place to head right toward Haiti! The very controlling part of me is screaming out, "How much more can this poor island take?" Then, I'm quieted by His spirit. He is in absolute control of all things. I am commanded to trust in Him at all times. Charles Spurgeon says this that encouraged my heart this morning as the waves churn and thunder bellows....
Thus you will be delivered from carking care, you will not be troubled with evil tidings, your heart will be fixed, trusting the Lord. How pleasant to float along the stream of providence! There is no more blessed way of living than a life of dependence upon a covenant keeping God. We have no care, for He careth for us; we have no troubles, because we cast our burdens upon the Lord.
I will cast these things to the Lord, knowing that I'm unable to bear such burdens. He alone can not only bear them, but change the outcomes when we grab hold of His robe in prayer. I will be seeking Him to not only protect Joshua and the rest of our children, but the people of Haiti. This island needs the Lord.
In other news regarding our little boy:
J. Moore, an adoptive father, was able to visit New Life Link, our orphanage, last week. He delivered Joshua's toy to him, and played with him a bit. By this time, the cribs were moved out of the creche. They are currently moving our babies into a new house. The new house will have 5 babies per room, with one nanny per 5, which is an excellent ratio compared to before. So, the babies were on pads on the floor, wandering around and sleeping...in one photo, a child had fallen asleep on the concrete floor. The cool concrete is a welcome bed in the heat of Haiti. J. tried to explain to the Nanny that the crib toy belonged to Joshua, and to please put it on his crib, and he thought she understood. We'll see :~) It's ok. Again, the crib toy was more for our sakes, his first birthday and all. At least he got to play with it for a bit.
What's ironic is how DRY it is here in KY, as southern states receive the aftermath of Gustav, and the eastern states prepare for Hannah's rainfall....we received one short-lived 30 second shower yesterday, but other than that, everything here is dry and brown. I can't remember the last time it really rained. It was SO hot last night. We walked through a local neighborhood preselling bbq tickets. Our first "walk" to do such a thing, and it was fairly successful. Most people purchased. But we were drenched with humidity by the time we were finished. Joshua's worth it!

It is so good to know that people are able to go in and touch and pray with Joshy for you!
He is well worth all of our prayer and efforts.
It is sooooo dry here...it has never been this dry in Ohio since I've lived here. Great cracks in the ground! Both Paw and I have decided it is much like that last year in Texas!
Love YOU!♥
Praying for Haiti during this season of storms. I don't know how they can endure much more. Praying for safety for all of our little ones & their birth families.
The new house where Joshua will be sounds really nice!
Whew...the storms sure are going crazy aren't they? Praying for your little guy's safety through it all.
Yeah, we heard it was dry up there..no kidding! We couldn't believe the lack of lush, green, 'bluegrass' in Louisville. Crazy! It all looked like Alabama grass, it was so dry, brittle and brown. We presently have a lusher lawn than we saw up there...in a golfing community for goodness sake!
Anywho...Happy Birthday Joshua! (I know I'm late, sorry)
