Bedtime

We all settle in and the house is quiet.  I snuggle and cuddle with Joshua until he's semi-settled.  Then, I lay him down with his woof-woof and tuck him in.

As soon as I shut the door he starts to whimper, and it becomes a full fledge cry.  So, I go back in.

Bon Tweet, Joshua....shhhh, shhhhh.

But, I can't resist.

So I scoop him up, and grab his cozy blanket and we hold each other tight.  He wraps his little hand around my neck and fiddles with my hair and we stare at each other.  He studies my face in the dark, and I study his.
My thoughts....I can't believe he's finally here, feeling all of the love we've had for him
I hope his thoughts are those of finally feeling secure, precious, loved.

His eyes finally close, but not before a slight little smile visits his wee face.  I hold him until he breathes deep, and then I tuck him into his cozy bed with a homemade quilt and blanket....not a peep.

Sweet dreams, baby boy.  This is what it feels like to be home.  To be held.  To be loved.
