Today is the day that our birth parent interview with the embassy is scheduled.
Such meetings are notorious for delays and reschedulings. They may not even be able to find her. It's Monday. In Haiti. A combination that doesn't sound too hopeful.
So, our whole household has been fervently praying.
My children have been asking particularly difficult questions pertaining to Joshua's birth mother....like, "Can she ask for him back?" and that century old question.."Why?" and "What does she look like?"
So if you're wondering...
So if you're wondering...
"Can she ask for him back?" --This is not probable. She has delivered Joshua to the O. at an even earlier age than his biological brother. In the eyes of the Haitians Joshua is now a Burke, carrying our last name. (NOW, for the grownups reading this blog, nothing is impossible, but not probable. As for this momma, I will breathe a sigh of relief when he is finally HOME) She came to the first birth parent interview for Lou with no problem.
"Why?" -- Why do mothers have to give up their babies in Haiti? Because they can not provide enough food and nourishment for their babies. Or even the basic necessities that we take for granted here. It's a noble, motherly thing to do in a third world country, and one that I can not even make myself think about. We are a blessed people.
"What does she look like?" We didn't get an opportunity to meet his biological mother as some others do, but I told my children this in answer to this question last night: She is beautiful, I'm sure. She must be. Both Joshua and Lou are quite the lookers :~).
Please pray with us that the BP Interview happens today and becomes another check on our checklist to bring our little man home. And because we can boldly approach the throne of grace...we're asking that DNA is NOT required as well. Another unlikely prayer request, but one of our favorite phrases here lately is:
BUT GOD.
BUT GOD.

Hoping she shows. It must be hard for them. Our birth dad showed which took a lot of effort on his part getting there and then the interviewer did come in to work! Hoping & praying that all goes well and that the mom has a peace about her decision.
Praying it all goes well today. God is able!
praying all happens gracefully.
also, I've been curious about your use of garlic pills while in Haiti. Did you take them? Did they work? We're heading there the beginning of November and taking all three of our biological children with us. Besides myself, two of our three here are well loved by mosquitoes the world over. Hoping garlic pills might be our answer! If you get a few moments I would love to hear your thoughts!

Will you hear right away that she made it to the interview? Or is there a delay in that information?
