So maybe 50 dispensations weren't released. Welcome to my world.
I'm gonna give someone...anyone....1 more week to communicate with me, and then I'm gonna politely pursue some answers. The burning questions are:
1. Is our file being held on a desk because we don't meet age qualifications? If so, when do they expect to remove it from that desk? Because if they wait until we're 35, the whole thing is OVER.
2. Is our file waiting on presidential dispensation because of our biological children?
Surely, after 9 months of waiting, it wouldn't hurt for someone to find the answers to these questions. It would set my mind at ease to know something. I understand the whole "this is Haiti, no communication, wrong communication" stuff, but I'm ready for some answers. I don't think I have unreal expectations. I'm not demanding that someone go and retrieve my file pronto. I just want to know what stage in the IBESR process it's in. Is there any letter or in general schmoozing that I need to do? You know, the "yes I know I don't meet your on again off again requirements but I'm on my hands and knees begging you to let us have the fatherless orphan that WE named" kind of letter.
Yeah. I'm feeling slightly miffed. Somebody should have put the cost of a punching bag on the adoption requirements for Haiti. Seriously.

I AM TOTALLY WITH YOU ON THIS!!!! I KNOW WHAT you mean about wanting answers. I am 34...and I have heard we are dispensation (maybe) b/c we have biological kids and I am not 35. Who knows. I honestly give up finding these answers out.
Me too ... I have asked if there is anything at all we can do and was told in no uncertain terms not to contact any of the agencies directly because it would create more problems. So what is there to do??
Argh. I understand this pain. :(
May you find peace during the times where questions are always more than the answers!
I have no words. Praying!
We have been in IBESR for 14 months(now waiting for dispense too).
If you will post your email address here, I will send you information on someone who can check on your file.

Wow. Yeah. That would be sooo very frustrating and I'd be wanting some answers too. Here we were getting miffed because the gal wasn't talking to us in over a week about mortgage approval. You're over there, basically in silence, for over 9 months, and concerning a CHILD no less. I'm sorry. *big hugs* I do pray you hear SOMEthing soon.
Hang in there. I know it's rough. We have been waiting for over a year in IBESR... God is good, and will see us through my friend!
If you find out anything that would be helpful the the rest of us, please share.... :)
Oh man, this stinks! I didn't know you guys were in the "not 35" group- which does tend to make for additional headaches.
Not that you look old- because you don't! :)
I will beef up my prayers for you. The Lord is bigger than your age and your biological children and all of Haiti's asinine requirements in general!
Amanda, I'm so sorry. I really do understand the frustration. I think being in the process the second time around is a bit less frustrating because you've come to expect and understand it just a bit more. Not that I'm enjoying it any! ;) Sometimes there are no answers or communication simply because there is no change. After going and seeing first hand I know it is not because NLL isn't working their tails off (because they really do) but often they are just as helpless to make anything happen as the rest of us. I sure wouldn't want their stressful jobs!
Your comment about the punching bag thing cracked me up~ so true!
Hanging in there along side of you dear friend!
