Monkey Therapy

Just in case you didn't think we were strange enough already....

For Christmas this year, we bought Joshua a stuffed Curious George. Because of the lack of possession rights in an orphanage, we aren't really able to send him any lovies unless they can hang from his crib, and the reality is, that's questionable. I would hope that they would allow his stuff to be his stuff, but, it's an orphanage. As long as it can bring joy to any of the children. That's how we look at it. So, Curious George is now residing as a full time member of our household. I didn't want to put him away. He'd be lonely.

So, I explained to the kiddos that any time they missed Joshua or were thinking about him, they could play with George. Oh my goodness. They are LOVING George. In a very odd, replacement therapy kind of way. :~}
Now, the following photos are for real. Not propped. Not created for your viewing pleasure.
Avery & George, watching tv. Apparently, George talks "monkey" to her. That's what she says. She's always coming and telling me what he has to say (and apparently he told her to please not send him to the orphanage. He wanted to stay here and be loved.)

"This is how I'd snuggle Joshua."

George hangin' out with Avery in a laundry basket. She likes to sit in wierd things. Give her a box and she gets so excited.

Avery puts George to bed every night. He sleeps on the couch.

Ok, so Daniel gave me a little cheese for this one. But I REALLY did walk by the bedroom and see George hanging out in the sock drawer.

I have also found George propped up eating fake bananas. Oh, and the kids argued over who was going to put "butt powder" on him. Yeah. I'm like, it's a monkey. A stuffed monkey. But it's Joshua's stuffed monkey. So, naturally, they are in love. And Daniel just walked by and wanted me to make this clarification:
This is less than half of how much we will hug and love on Joshua.

Monkey Therapy. Try it.

That is so cute...I did something similar with Gracie's doll. I feel the same frustration about not being able to send things...I have sent so many things that don't ever end up staying in her crib. She just clung to everything when I visited. I can't wait until they can have belongings all their own!
