Forecasting Victory, Not Foreboding Defeat

"For every fearful peek into the future, I wish I had looked to Christ instead. For each imaginary trouble conjured up, I wish I had recalled the specific, unfailing faithfulness of God. In place of dismay and dread, I wish I had exhibited hope and joy. “forecasting victory, not foreboding defeat.”
“As for His failing you, never dream of it—hate the thought. The God who has been sufficient until now, should be trusted to the end.”
Encouraging quotes from Charles Spurgeon that have been shared this week by friends. These are the facts. The glorious facts of God's unfailing faithfulness and sufficiency!
We expect an update this week of our darling Joshua. We are hoping for good news along with that, so for our update we'll wait joyfully. All of the "hard, cold facts" would point us quickly into forboding defeat...very few files have been signed out this month. The Haitian government practically shuts down in December for the holiday (at least that's what we've heard). Sounds like a wonderful time for God to display his glorious power, no?
Should things not go the direction we're hoping for and should we have need to hunker down for good long December and January, too, I want to speak to myself of His unfailing love. He will not fail us, and I want to HATE the thought. He's sufficient today, and He'll be sufficient through the waiting.
Would you pray with me that we'll hear the good news we're longing for? I have plenty to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season and the good news would just be extra icing on the cake, but I do believe I would just fall apart with happiness. Someone would have to come pick me up off of the FLOOR. Really.
By the way, a family received Joshua's Christmas gift. They plan on traveling December 5th-8th. They were so sweet and even placed Joshua's gift in their carry-on just in case their luggage is stolen!
God is good. I'll let you know as soon as someone has to peel me off of the floor. :~)

I am praying for good news regarding your sweet Joshua. You are right though, God is sufficient whether there is news or not. He is good and faithful and loves us all.

Praying for good news this week, just as you've asked. Thanks for this timely word from Spurgeon. Definitely applicable to our own wait!
