A Beautiful, Crazy 1st of October....

It's a beautiful day. Wonderful 1st day of October. However, I think the weather made my children, particularly my daughter, a little loopy. Here's the school day scoop:

Handwriting -- She does a lesson for next week and has to do her lesson for today as well.
Explode The Code Phonics Work -- She spells her first bad word when she mispells "bench." Use your imagination and basic phonics skills to figure that one out. Of course she has no idea, but I roll my eyes.
Math -- OH. Math. That was like an ALL day adventure. Flashcards -- TORTUROUS. She wanted to sing them, whisper them, fluctuate her voice, go nutty with it...ME...I just wanted her to say the problem. Do the problem. Then, she just couldn't focus. Oh my. All day math. That's crazy.
Reading we got through no problem. Spelling words, we practiced outloud, but she kept getting her g's and j's mixed up.
We finally made it to history. Mesopotamia, which she can NOT say. Sargon and the Akkadians, which she could care less about. B-O-R-I-N-G. History's gonna have to pick up the pace to keep my little girl motivated. Daniel loves history, but so far, she could really care less about military dictatorships thousands of years ago. Or gross mummies. Or wierd gods.

I let the child eat her lunch outside today. And have recess. It still didn't stop her from squawking like a bird and flapping her sparkly, red cape at me and shouting, "I'm an eagle, see me fly, fly, flyyyyy!" over and over in between lessons.

I'm so glad school's over for the day. GO OUTSIDE!
