Happy Birthday Joshua!!!!

Happy 1st Birthday, Our Dear Joshua Steven!!!!!

The stage is set, your day is here,
and though you're far away,
Your new family is loving you,
On your special day.

Being one is lots of fun,
There's lots to learn and do,
We can't wait to bring you home,
There's a lotta love for you.

So we will wait upon the Lord,
To bring you home to us,
His ways are perfect, dear one,
In Him we put our trust.

Could this be the last birthday,
You spend without us near?
We pray with all our might and strength,
His promises are dear.

--Mommy, For Joshua, 2008

I do love 1st birthdays! The cake, the family, the gifts, the look of "what in the world are you people doing?" on the face of my little ones. I know, I know...1st birthdays are mainly about the mama and the papas. A 1st birthday celebrates a year of sleepless nights, sniffles, cutting teeth, rolling over, crawling, toddling...mamas and papas want to celebrate survival! Baby just gets to relish in the fluffy cake placed in front of them and look all cute.

Well, we are celebrating Joshua's 1st birthday this year, without him. I'm sure there will be some emotional moments, but as a family, all of us wanted to celebrate his life. The goodness of God in keeping him, thus far. The goodness of God in enabling our family to overcome each hurdle in the process so far. He has provided as we go along and we seem to look on with amazement. You know, that "How'd You do that, God?" kinda feeling.

I'm so glad God chose this journey for us. I weep as I think of the faith in my heart increasing with each step along this rocky path. How could He not do an amazing work? Each step has been an amazing answer to prayer. I'm in love with the Rock that I cling too...how faithful He is to us. Oh, to be a bride worthy of such love & faithfulness.

No, this 1st birthday doesn't celebrate typical milestones. This first birthday celebrates hope. For love. For deliverance. For the precious assurance of God's amazing promises.

Stay tuned for celebration pictures :~)

Well that was just downright beautiful! Happy birthday, little one! I can't wait to see the celebration pics!

I feel the same way about being so glad the Lord chose this path for us. It IS painful, to be sure, but wow- It does force one to grow- and rather quickly. I feel like I've grown more in one year of being on this adoption path than I did in the previous 5 years combined. He is doing such a blessed work in all our hearts. What a Saviour!

Happy Birthday sweet little Joshua! We thank God today for the gift of you to this world!

Amanda... Birthdays were always by far the hardest days of the wait for me (probably because I'm a huge fan of going all out for them). I do pray that today you are filled with joy, peace, and FUN. If you feel the bit of sting of not being with him today please remember that it is normal and we wouldn't be mothers without it. It is because of the great God given love we have for them that we miss them.

Big Hug and Much Love,
Angela
