Cornhusk Dolls, Homemade Butter, & Teepees

Our school days have been so exciting! We're finally into a history timeframe that I can truly enjoy! Colonial times, pioneers, Native Americans, Kentucky...all of that fun stuff!
We're reading Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Avery loves it. So far, we've made our cornhusk babies, and we've made homemade butter.

Daniel listens in on and participates with the Little House Studies, but his main interest is the Kentucky studies. We do Kentucky History once a week. I then load him down with assignments that he's to work on (preferably with Dad) through the week. Unfortunately, Dad's been seriously busy taking apart his truck to fix the back end. So, it was a last minute-night before project last night: The Teepee. I had told Daniel that he could either write a paper about Native Americans or make a teepee. His reply: "Any boy with sense would pick the build a teepee option!"For lengthy step by step photos on making butter, visit my facebook (it was really cool!) and more school photos, go to facebook. I'm going to start loading less here, because it takes too long. But, I'll let you know if I have something worth checking out at FB.

I love your Daniel's comment in regards to the teepee - actually, I had a hearty "HA!" out loud! Sounds just like my Jacob! Their genuine, matter-of-fact-honesty is so refreshing! It's great, thanks for sharing!

That Daniel is a smart one! Who wouldn't want to make the teepee. Sounds like you are having a great week.
