We were able to have a wonderful beautiful Lord's Day and celebrate Joshua's birthday to boot. A beautiful, encouraging church service and then great fellowship with great weather! I only cried once the WHOLE day, and that was when we sang Blessed Be Your Name. The rest was all good. I snapped some shots of the kiddos in the Melvin's yard while they weren't paying much attention. Another year older, man. They are growing so fast.

Cristina made that awesome bolognese sauce with spaghetti from Pioneer Woman's website and homemade artisan bread...YUM-O. Then, the we all relaxed and hung out until the WEE hours of the evening. Sis played crazy dress up. And Daniel caught a fish in the creek.

I made Joshua's birthday cake. It was a Honey Bun Cake. Recipe below. NOT for dieters! Here we are singing to our sweetie for his birthday! A very good day, indeed.
I even went through Cristina's boxes of clothes and grabbed a few things for Joshua to take to Haiti (INCLUDING some cute little Blues Clues swim trunks if we get to swim at the guest house!) I think there were many contributing factors to a GOOD birthday without Joshua home...
1. God is good. No matter what. We are constantly showered with blessings.
2. We are planning a trip to Haiti. In 5 weeks, Lord willing. And that is awesome.
3. Lou is coming home. He was on American soil yesterday evening. He'll be home today. That is fabulous.
Honey Bun Cake
1 box yellow cake mix
4 eggs
4 eggs
1 cup sour cream
3/4 c. oil
Mix above ingredients. Pour half of batter in 9x13 pan.
Mix 1 cup of brown sugar with 3 tsp. cinnamon. Sprinkle on half the batter. Pour remaining batter on top. Swirl with knife.

Bake 350 for 40 minutes or until done.
Top with:
2 c. powdered sugar, 4 tbsp. milk, and 1 tsp. vanilla, whisked together. Pour that over the hot cake and serve HOT with coffee (We LOVE BRIAR AND BEAN COFFEE from Evansville!)
