I can't keep leaving long, drawn out comments on the beautiful blogs I'm finding, so I thought I would post my first entry here while it's still relatively quiet in the house. I've been up for a while just mesmerized that there's a whole community of people out there that I've finally run across! This is a big deal to me. God is good in this provision, knowing my apprehensiveness as we move forward in this process. There's no telling how long we'll wait and to see others that are going before me...it's just a blessing!
Now...the introduction part.
I'm Amanda, 27 (soon to be 28). I'm married to a wonderful fella, Steve (31). We'll celebrate our 9th anniversary in August, and the Lord has blessed us in so many, many ways. First and foremost with His Son. We have two beautiful children, D. (7) & A. (5).
We've had adoption in our hearts for years now, but began earnestly praying toward that end last summer. We really felt led toward Haiti. After counsel, wisdom, and seeking the Lord, we moved forward in January 2008. Where are we in the process?
Quick Rundown:
January 6, 2008 -- First meeting with agency director
January 27, 2008 -- Got the "ok" regarding our ages and new Haitian laws
February-March, 2008 -- Filling out paperwork, 1600A & Fingerprints
March 25, 2008 -- Homestudy
April, 2008 -- Working On Dossier
April 24, 2008 -- Dossier delivered to French Translator
So, we're waiting to get the translated version back of our dossier, then off to the embassy. From there, we turn it in to our agency and wait.
I'm an emotional gal. So these blogs I'm running across have me in a tizzy. I'm so excited to find you all. May God bless you as you journey on toward your children. If your children are home, I'm thankful for your blogs, too! That just makes it more "real." Like there could be an end in sight.
As I get time, I'll try to snazz up the blog a bit. As it is, I'm busy trying to earn the translator fee. :~)

Amanda,
Congratulations on starting your adoption! The wait is long and hard, but it is all so worth it in the end. Thanks for your comment on our blog-- no problem to add us to your list. I'll check in on you often!

Hey, Amanda! Welcome to blogland! It always thrills my heart to learn of others venturing out on this not so easy journey of adopting from Haiti. It is, however, a wonderful journey that I wouldn't give up for anything. God Bless you as you begin your wait!!

Hi Amanda, I am a blogging pal of your Mom's and did as I was told by hotfooting it over to welcome you :-)
I wish you the very best with your planned adoption and I love your picture on the beach - where is that?
Hi Amanda,
Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog! I'm so excited for you as you begin this journey! It is long, it is hard, it is so so worth it.

Hi Amanda! I saw your comment on Michelle's blog & "wandered" to yours. Congrats on starting this "amazing" process! I will be praying for you on this journey. I don't know if you have had a chance to "talk" to Michelle yet but there are 9 families from our area that are adopting from the same orphanage. Feel free to ask us questions or to just "talk."
Kathy :o)

Welcome to Blogger!
Amanda, Just yesterday my mom was saying how people must truly be convinced of their "calling" to adopt to make it through all the ups and downs, and I told her how there is such a great support network in this day and age through adoption blogs. I'm happy that you found mine and that you have begun yours!
I meant to ask, what agency are you working with??
hmmm, I had said that I liked this better, but it erased my comment, so I am rethinking... LOL
Good job! I do like it better! :P
Hi sweetie. I am a blog buddy of your sweet Mom's. I am also an adoptive Mom to two children. A son from Korea and a daughter from China. It is a long and tedious process and often worrisome but it is so worth it.
There will be an end to this and it will be a blessed and sweet one.
Blessings to you.
Hugs,
Sue
